Architecturally Focused Tour to Vienna, Budapest and Prague - September 3 - 16, 2016

Turn of the century Vienna and its Secessionist movement provided that city with an abundance of Art Nouveau works.  Let’s go see historical and contemporary art and architecture in these three cities while soaking up all of their charming ambiance.  Sites in Prague include the historic Charles Bridge and Hradcany Castle as well as the Adolf Loos designed Mueller House and the Dancing House designed by Frank Gehry.  We’ll visit Brno to see the Villa Tugendhat byMies van der Rohe and the pavilions of the 1891 Brno Exhibition Grounds.  As we continue on to Vienna, our touring will take around the famed Ringstrasse which will introduce us to a variety of sites from Emperor Franz Josef’s Hofburg Palace to Zaha Hadid’s Library and Learning Centre at the University of Economics.  We’ll visit the Opera House, the Upper Belvedere Museum, the unique Gasometers development (Building A by Jean Nouvel) and we will cover the Secession period with tours of buildings by Otto Wagner.  In Budapest, we’ll continue our Art Nouveau focus with visits to the former Gresham Palace and buildings by Ödön Lechner.  One of the highlights of Budapest will be a visit to the Museum of Applied Arts.

  1. Hey, your Tour to Vienna is way too fascinating for me. You know I just love this place and visit there every year with my family. But this year I’ll have to attend some important corporate events Chicago so I am thinking to take my family too with me. So that we can enjoy after my meeting, isn’t that a good idea?
